
Those are my fitness goals for the year: cycle 3,000 miles, run 300 kilometers and swim 30 miles. I'll also do my core stretching/ab workouts 300 times. Ambitious or wimpy? I don't really know since I've never kept track. But I already swim 1 mile at a stretch, which means I only have to hit the pool 30 times this year. And because of the effect running has on one's body, I promised myself that I'd never run more than 10k a week (and no more than 5k at a time), so that's 60 times max.
But the 3,000 miles on the bike? That's the sticking point. It's slightly less than 200 hours on the bike at my average speed, but finding even moderate chunks of time will be a hassle. Marilynn says I perform better with a goal in mind, and this is what I came up with.
So far, so good, but of course, it's only January. Ask me how it's going in July!
